ONE ULTRASOUND, AND THOUSANDS BENEFIT

Kriel, also known as Ga-Nala, is a small mining town in Mpumalanga. Through MediCoop’s finance support, a local GP, Dr Nhlanhla Mazibuko, could add ultrasound to his private practice. This ultrasound is now the only one in the village, because local clinics do not have that capacity.

Dr Mazibuko operates his practice from a house in town, providing basic healthcare needs. “My practice functions as an essential referral point. Kriel, being a coal mining town, means that my patients are mainly mine workers. I am now able to provide basic diagnostic obstetric technology which sets my practice apart from the local clinics.”

Dr. Mazibuko was not aware of MediCoop until the ultrasound supplier told him that MediCoop would assist with finance. He was impressed with the process. Dr. Mazibuko’s acquisition will certainly have a tangible impact on primary healthcare services in Kriel and the surrounding community. The MediCoop team wishes him well! This is certainly an example that demonstrates how impactful health technology can be in rural areas – one machine to benefit thousands.

TAKING X-RAY SERVICES TO THE PEOPLE

Dr. Viencent Seleme is an experienced radiographer who realized that his business could increase exponentially if he could travel to see his patients, rather than patients travelling long distances to his X-ray practice. His company, Lempho Occupational Health X-rays Inc. offers X-ray services to companies such as mining, municipalities, construction sites, manufacturing and farming.

He invested in a mobile to run occupational health X-rays which runs from one site to the next. “Everything is going according to the plan and I’m hoping to procure more,” says Dr. Seleme, who was referred to MediCoop through the medical radiology equipment manufacturer, IME MED | Medical Radiology Equipment Suppliers and Manufacturers South Africa

Dr. Seleme said the process to obtain finance through MediCoop was easy and simple to understand, and was also very quick.

FOCUS ON AFFORDABLE SOLAR ENERGY FOR YOUR PRACTICE

Loadshedding is certainly the talk of town. MediCoop is at the moment negotiating more affordable finance packages for solar energy solutions for small practices. Watch this space in the next edition on a variety of packages that will be available for MediCoop members to bring solar energy to your practice 24 hours a day.
